FAQs

What is a Naturopathic Doctor (ND)?

Naturopathic doctors are licensed primary care providers who take a whole-person approach to your health.

We are trained in clinical medicine, perform physical exams, and can order and interpret lab tests. Our focus is on understanding the root causes of your health concerns and taking a big picture approach in supporting your body to heal naturally through:

    • Lifestyle changes

    • Holistic nutrition

    • Herbal medicine and natural supplementation

    • Hormone therapy and select pharmaceuticals

    • Acupuncture

We also recognize when additional care is needed and work closely with other healthcare providers, making referrals when appropriate to ensure you receive the best possible support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is naturopathic medicine covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans (e.g., Great West Life, Blue Cross, Sun Life) cover visits with a naturopathic doctor. Coverage varies, so check with your benefits provider for details. Individuals on MSP premium assistance may have partial coverage, though this typically only covers a small portion of the visit fee.
Please note: we do not direct-bill to insurance — it’s your responsibility to submit receipts for reimbursement.
I am seeing an MD. Can I see an ND as well?

Absolutely. Many patients work with both a family physician and a naturopathic doctor.

NDs provide complementary care and are trained to understand interactions between natural medicines and pharmaceuticals, ensuring your treatments work safely together.

No single doctor has all the answers — working as a team often provides the best care.

Will my naturopathic doctor want to sell me lots of supplements?

Our goal is to listen to you and understand how you want to approach your health.

While supplements may sometimes be recommended, we aim not to overwhelm patients with too many pills or high costs.

If suggested, supplements are just one part of a personalized plan we develop together.
We do offer some in-office for quality and convenience, but there’s no requirement to purchase from us — we’re happy to recommend trusted alternatives.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We understand that life happens and plans change.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer your time slot to another patient.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a fee, as outlined in our clinic policies.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

Your first visit — 90 minutes for adults, 75 for children — focuses on understanding your health goals where we will:

  • Review your health history, lifestyle, and previous care

  • Perform a physical exam or discuss lab tests (if needed)

  • Create an initial personalized plan and outline next steps

Future visits:

  • Second visit: typically 60 minutes

  • Follow-ups: typically 45 minutes

Timing is flexible, and we’ll decide together what best supports your health journey.
