Naturopathic treatments will strengthen
the foundation of your health and promote healing

About Naturopathic Medicine

We live in a time where health care is fragmented. You can only discuss one health concern at a time with your GP, and need to see different specialists for your different health concerns. The problem with this is that it is all connected! Naturopathic Doctors are trained as primary care physicians who look at the big picture of your health.

Clinically trained, naturally focused

In BC, naturopathic doctors are licensed and board certified healthcare practitioners who are clinically trained in providing physical exams, lab testing and the diagnosis of health concerns. They take a natural approach in the treatment of health concerns and emphasize prevention and wellness.

We will help you to understand the root cause of your health concerns and guide you in making health and lifestyle choices that will promote healing. Our extensive training and clinical experience will help you to find a healing plan that will be appropriate and effective for you as an individual.

An individualized wellness plan may include any of the following:

Clinical Nutrition

There are many approaches to a healthy diet, and we believe that dietary recommendations should be tailored for the individual. “Food as medicine” is incorporated into every treatment plan. Our goal is to help you identify nutrient rich foods that will support you in healing, and which foods may be affecting you adversely. Nutritional supplementation may be recommended as a way of correcting an underlying imbalance or to strengthen weakened systems.

Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine incorporates the healing properties of plants. Herbs can be nourishing, strengthening and are known to treat a wide variety of health concerns. We are trained to understand the pharmaceutical properties of plants and to screen for herb-drug interactions. Prescription of herbal medicine may be based on scientific research or traditional use.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

We are trained in both western and eastern medicine and use our expertise to understand and treat your health concerns. Acupuncture, dietary changes and traditional Chinese medicine herbs can be used to treat a wide variety of health concerns.

Lifestyle Modification and Prevention

Lifestyle is a cornerstone for good health. We will discuss lifestyle factors that are contributing to your health concerns such as stress, habits, exercise and sleep. Our goal is to guide you in making health promoting lifestyle choices which will be one of the most important factors in establishing long term health.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy incorporates the healing power of hot and cold water. Various recommendations can be made for home treatment of health concerns.

Homeopathic Medicine

Homeopathy is an energetic medicine which uses minute doses of plant, animal and mineral substances for holistic treatment. It stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Bowen Therapy

Dr. Alexis practices Bowen therapy – a system of subtle and precise mobilizations called “Bowen moves” over muscles, tendons, nerves and fascia. These moves are performed using the thumbs and fingers applying only gentle, non-invasive pressure. A treatment consists of a series of specific sequences of moves called procedures, with frequent pauses to allow time for the body to respond. Bowen therapy can be useful for a wide range of health concerns, in particular Dr. Alexis has found it useful for muscle tension and pain.

Pharmaceutical prescriptions

When necessary, we are licenced to prescribe a range of pharmaceutical medications including bio identical hormone therapy.

Feel better, achieve your goals and create a partnership for life
