Naturopathic doctors are primary care physicians who take a natural approach in the treatment of health concerns.
Naturopathic doctors are primary care physicians who take a natural approach in the treatment of health concerns. ND’s are trained in clinical medicine and perform physical exams, Pap smears and diagnostic laboratory tests familiar to family physicians. They strive to understand the cause of your health concerns and use lifestyle, diet and natural treatments to support the body in healing itself. In BC, naturopathic doctors are licensed and regulated healthcare practitioners.
Most Extended Health Plans (i.e. Great West Life, Blue Cross, SunLife) cover services provided by a naturopathic doctor. Call your benefits provider to understand the coverage that you have. MSP coverage is available to individuals on premium assistance, though this only covers a small portion of the visit fee.
A naturopathic doctor is trained in clinical medicine and takes a natural approach to understanding and treating your health concerns. When you see an ND for health care, treatments are holistic and may include therapeutic diet, lifestyle changes, herbal medicines, acupuncture or physical therapies. You and your chosen ND work collaboratively to find a plan that will work for you and your lifestyle.
The vast majority of the patients we see are under the care of a family physician or other health care professional. We are health care practitioners who can take a complementary approach to the medical treatments that you are currently taking. We are trained in understanding interactions between natural medicine and pharmaceuticals. Much of the time, naturopathic treatments can reduce the amount of medication that you need for your health condition, and may eliminate the need altogether.
We are always happy to offer a complementary 15 min consult to discuss our approach to health and healing and answer any questions that you may have.
